Our GraduatesHear more from: Sure we think our program is great - but we wouldn't want you to have to take our word for it. Here are some of the things our graduates have been saying about us. Joe Sattler Class of '96 | Dairy farmer | Malone, WI As far as the class is concerned, I really like the fact that we were exposed to ideas outside of the box, so to speak. When I was going to UW-Madison, concrete, free stalls, steel, more cows, and way more debt was the way to go. Your class was the only one to say wait a minute, there's other ways to do this.' I don't know that the class could have been any better for me. Robert Harper Class of '00 | County Extension Agent | Columbia, VA WSBDF helped me much. I cannot say enough about my time at campus and with my host family during my internship. It was education all hours that I was awake and I was better able to make decisions on my entry into dairying. Greg Osinga Class of '00 | Dairy farm employee | Janesville, WI I would really encourage students to do an internship as well as the course work. Jim and Julie Schweers Class of '98 | Dairy farmers | Greenwood, WI If it wasn't for the school we never would have been able to get a start at dairy farming. We are both from the city (Milwaukee area) and had no idea how to get started until we heard of the WSBDF. John McCarthy Class of '96 | Dairy farmer | St. Anne, IL The guest speakers and the classes were a great way to see a different way of dairying. Mike Tomandl Class of '01 and '02 | Dairy farmer | Medford, WI WSBDF really got me excited about grazing and planning to farm on my own. Adam Bedtke Class of '99 | Dairy farmer | Minneiska, MN The Grass-based Dairy Seminar was the class in which I learned the most useful and practical information, and ideas I could use as soon as school was finished. The part that I thought was invaluable was the farm speakers; they told us about their experiences, both successes and failures. Chris Bailey Class of '99 | Cornell School of Business | Ithaca, NY The WSBDF was a valuable distance learning opportunity for me. With limited (almost no) disruption to my family and work, I was able to learn much. Ryan Indergard Class of '99 | College Student (Agricultural Education) | Monroe, WI I liked how the class focused on farmer's goals, and how these goals differ among farmers for achieving happiness and success. Patty Laskowski Class of '02 | Dairy farmer | Hillsboro, WI By taking this grazing seminar and getting (pleasantly) plunged into a huge pool of knowledgeable people who are very 'fore-thinking' has been extremely liberating. Speakers who have made presentations to us have come from the context of 'why not?' instead of 'we can't do that.' The network associated with WSBDF is tremendous, and it steps up the process of working through logistical planning because we have had this opportunity to talk to people who have tried things and found out what works. I have so much in common with all of these bright people who also have farm goals. The most amazing thing so far has been the enthusiasm and willingness to share information that comes from the grazing community. |
"The courses and instructors were great!" Wade and Katie Loresch, Class of 1998 |
