Sustainable Intensification in Agricultural Systems

Date: Friday, November 14, 3:00pm

Location: DeLuca Form, Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery

Posted October 2014

Can we sustainably intensify food production to meet the needs of a growing population with changing consumption patterns? In this lecture, author and scholar Jules Pretty, University of Essex, will analyze recent evidence of the impacts of sustainable intensification in both developing and industrialized countries, and demonstrate how both yield and natural capital dividends can occur. He will provide observations on policies and incentives necessary for the wider adoption of sustainable intensification.

This event is possible thanks to the generous support of the Lectures Committee General Fund. Event co-sponsors include F.H. King Students for Sustainable Agriculture, Slow Food UW, Agroecology Program, Department of Agronomy, Department of Soil Science, and Wisconsin Prevention of Obesity and Diabetes.
