IUAN is envisioned as a unique collaboration between academic and community partners that will accelerate the development of urban agriculture, grow the urban food economy, and improve the health and nutrition of urban residents.  This vision for the IUAN grew out of meeting in 2011 between Will Allen, Founder and CEO of Growing Power, and Chancellor Mike Lovell of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The goal of the symposium on April 11 is to pull together the academic community in Madison interested in contributing to this vision.  Efforts to attract and involve academic and community partners in Milwaukee are also underway.

The event is supported by a “Growth Agenda for Wisconsin” grant from the UW System.
